David Jesus Lopez, "Big D," 42, passed away on September 27, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Victoria; and son, David John Lopez; daughter, Chayna Martinez and husband, Manuel; grandson, Sebastian Martinez; mother, Maria Samora; sister, Rose Lopez; brothers, Tim Lopez and wife, Susan, Andrew Lopez and wife, Kalena, Gilbert Sedillo, Jr.; father & mother-in-law, John & Rose Martinez; godsons, Joseph Abeln-Lopez & Joseph John Sims; grandmother, Julia T. Samora; step-father, Gilbert Sedillo, Sr.; aunts & uncles, Elsie Samora-Sanchez, Vangie Samora & Jim Iden, and Terrie & Victor Sais; Joseph Samora, Jr., Joe & Julie Samora and Ike Samora; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, cousins, and friends. David was loved greatly by his family and friends. He brought happiness and laughter to all who knew him, and will be missed by all. He touched many people's lives and had strong family values. He loved his mother dearly, was a devoted husband and father, a great brother to his sister, and protective of his younger brothers. David was born in Albuquerque, graduated from Valley High School in 1980, loved riding his Harley Davidson, getting together with friends, and was a faithful Dallas Cowboy football fan. Fishing with his son was a favorite pastime, and he looked forward to taking his grandson along. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1860 Griegos Road, NW, Albuquerque, N.M. A reception will follow the service at the parish hall adjacent to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the David John Lopez Education Fund, Bank of America, c/o B.
