Obituary for ELLIOTT

Dana E. Elliott, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband to his late wife Dorothy, peacefully passed away October 4, 2004. Dana was born August 23, 1923 in New Vienna, OH to Blanch and Harry Elliott. He carried his love of farming throughout his life. He graduated valedictorian from Wilmington, High School and entered Ohio State. After completing one semester, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was assigned to the V12 program at the University of Louisville in the Naval ROTC program, where he earned a BSEE in 1948. He was a World War II Veteran and was awarded the American Campaign medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Dana was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy who he met in Louisville, KY and married in 1948. They shared 48 wonderful years together. Dana was employed in 1949 by Allis-Chalmers as a Betatron Engineer in Milwaukee, WI in 1954. Dana was hired by Los Alamos National Laboratory as a staff member and assigned to the Non-destructive Testing section working with betatron radiography. He retired from the Laboratory in 1990 but continued as a consultant through 1995. Dana is survived by his brother, Ralph W. Elliott of Wilmington, OH; his three daughters and their families: Edith Cardwell of Rixeyville, VA and her children Sam, his wife Amy Tavian, Tamirisk, and Shahada; Joan Ellard, her husband Kirk of Los Alamos, NM and their children Christopher Shane, his wife Kyndra and Stephanie; and Jennifer York, her husband Buddy of Los Lunas, NM her children, Timothy, Dorothy, Latayah and her husband Mario, David, his wife Jennifer and Kaila. He will be remembered by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Dana also leaves numerous friends who will remember and miss his quiet gentle nature, quick dry humor, and his never-ending compassion. He was also a member of the United Church and served on many committees and as the President of Council for one year. A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Los Alamos on Friday, October 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to his Hospice providers, Vista Care, 5201 Venice NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113 Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505 (505) 983-4331
