Obituary for DARRAH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday October 03, 2004

Cari Darrah. Our beloved Cari Darrah slipped away to be with the Lord on August 5, 2004. Cari bravely fought her illness for over a year. Cari was born in San Jose in 1937 to George W. & Elen S. Guth and spent her early years in Southern CA. She gradated from high school in Pasadena, then attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where she met John. It was 47 years ago that she married her college sweetheart. She is survived by her husband, John Darrah; her daughter, Lindalee Griggs; her son, Mike Darrah; her grandchildren, Carmeron and Morganne Roo; and her sister, Janice Auxier. Cari always had a yearning for God. As an adult she found Jesus at a Billy Graham Crusade. Her heart was tender and ready to accept him. Throughout her life, Cari aimed to serve the Lord through her service to others. She taught Sunday school, was a youth leader, a discipleship group leader for teenaged girls, a small group hostess, and spent years involved with weekly bible study groups. Cari worked for Pastor Jim Tomberlin at Hoffmantown Baptist Church in Albuquerque, NM in the early eighties and was the Executive Assistant for every Senior Pastor at Woodmen Valley Chapel in Colorado Springs, CO for sixteen years. Along with John, Cari was involved with the premarital and wedding ministry of Woodmen Valley Chapel for a decade. John and Cari continued with their singles' ministry to counsel engaged couples as well as to train churches, Bible colleges and seminaries to develop their own strong premarital programs for lasting marriages. Cari served as a member and an officer of numerous organizations, including The Broadmoor Rose Society, The Broadmoor Skating Club Boosters, The Bloomers Garden Club, The Enchanted Painters Chapter of the National Society of Tole & Decorative Painters, Los Novicios Craft Guild, and The Red Hat Society. Cari's bright smile, sweet spirit and servant's heart will long be remembered. Charities for donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E.
