Charles Alan Young, 54, of Placitas, born in Kalamazoo, MI on December 28, 1949, passed away on August 28, 2004 in a tragic bicycle accident in Colorado. Charlie died while doing what he loved more than anything else in this world. A strong and courageous runner and cyclist, full of spirit, sportsmanship, and compassion, he was a true champion. He was a proud Wolverine and completed his A.B. at U-Mich followed by his LL.B and LL.M. at the University of British Columbia before settling in New Mexico in 1976. A brilliant and energetic lobbyist, husband, and father, he leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Lucy Fox, MD; his daughter (and shining star of his life), Justine Colette Fox-Young; his brother, Jim and sister-in-law, Lisa Young; brother-and sister-in-law, Jim and Meg Fox; and beloved Labrador retrievers, Cosmo, Peaks, and Sidney. We wish we could name all his cherished friends and family here; we love you all and deeply appreciate your support. There will be a Memorial gathering at our home on Saturday, September 4 from 2 - 3 p.m. For further information, please call 771-8445. Please remember Charlie when you take to the road or trail on a crisp morning. Contributions may be made to the Lance Armstrong Foundation (www.laf.org) or Lodestar Dog Ranch (www.lodestarlabs.com).
