Obituary for WORDEN

Oren Lamont Worden, 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 46 years, passed away August 26, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Worden Roche; sister, Jean Steamer and her husband, Bob of Rochester, NY; and his nephews, Gregg, his wife, Karen and children, Jillian and Danny, and Jim, his wife, Kathy, and son, Bruce. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ginther Worden. Born 1913 in Syracuse, NY, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an electrical engineer in 1934. He played baseball and football, and was elected to Sigma Xi Honorary Society. He served in the US Navy during World War II, and was stationed in the Soloman Islands. He received a Masters Degree from Alfred University in 1952. He moved to New Mexico with his family in 1957 and worked at Sandia National Laboratories until his retirement in 1978. After retirement, he taught electronics at TVI. Oren loved playing golf, reading, and working in the yard with his dog. From 1999 to his death, Oren lived at Grand Court Retirement Apartments and made many friends with residents and the staff. He will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place and a private Burial Service will be held in Garland, NY.
