John J. Lopez, 64, passed away at his home early Saturday Morning, August 21, 2004. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque's South Valley, having attended Albuquerque High School. John proudly served in the US Air Force, and will be fondly remembered as "Big John the Plumber". He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwardo and Mary Jane Lopez; and brother-in-law, Angel Chavez. John is survived by his life partner, Erlinda Lopez; sons, John Anthony and Julian Lopez, Ernest Martinez, Danny Martinez and wife, Henrietta; daughters, Joanna Lopez and Geraldine Ellis; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Filo Lopez and wife, Margaret, Edward Lopez and wife, Cecilia; sisters, Terri Dezlan and husband, Frank of Indianapolis, IN, Margaret Chavez, Josephine Chavez and husband, Manuel, Bebe Lovato and husband, Mel of Peoria, AZ; many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Rd. SW. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2004. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2004. Burial will follow at Pajarito Cemetery, with Air Force Honors. Pallbearers will be Jerry E. Lopez, Joanna Lopez, Johnny Lopez, Estevan Martinez, Joey Martinez, and Reggie Quintana. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Tohlen, Henry Rael, and Ramon Montoya.
