Obituary for SHIRLEY

Donald O. Shirley, age 88 of Delmont, PA., died Wednesday, August 18, 2004. He was born on October 27, 1915 in Nowrytown, PA, a son of the late James O. and Ruth E. (Libengood) Shirley. Don retired in 1978 from the maintenance staff at the University of Pennsylvania, New Kensington Campus. He enjoyed Square dancing, Hunting at his camp in Elk County, PA, traveling, and playing the organ. Mr. Shirley was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, PA and was a proud member of the NRA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah J. "Sally" (Irwin) Shirley on June 16, 2004; and a grandson, Kevin Scott Shirley on May 29, 1999. Surviving are a son, K. Wayne Shirley and his wife, Joan of Albuquerque NM; two daughters, Donna Earnest and her husband, Barrett of Delmont, PA, and Joy Morsaint and husband, Dane of Carnegie, PA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and a step-brother. Friends will be received Saturday and Sunday at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., in Export, PA, where Services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to the Greater Albuquerque Compassionate Friends C/O Kristi Grubb, 6813 Cherry Blossom Ln., NE, Alb., NM 87111; New Mexico Survivors of Homicide, Inc., 12400 Menaul Blvd., NE, Suite 100, Alb., NM 87112; or to St. John's United Methodist Church Bluegrass Band, 2626 Arizona St., NE, Alb., NM 87110.
