Obituary for WEINER

Carl David Weiner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 21, 2004, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; devoted stepmother, Sabina Marsaln; five loyal children, Michael and wife, Teri of Omaha, Sean of Santa Fe, David of Albuquerque, Andrew and wife, Terri of Chicago, Carla and husband, Michael of Minneapolis; stepchildren, Matthew and wife, Linda, Lisa and husband, David; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Rachael, Matthew, William, Robert, Margaret, and Sayre; two step-grandchildren, Laura and James; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Muriel Taggart; nephew, Marty Weiner; loving cousins, Ronnie, Audrey, Irv, and Jerry Weiner; and many long-time friends, most especially Jeremy Martinez. Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Katie, father, Hymen, and brother, Allen. Born in Pittsfield, PA in 1934, he lived there until 1952. After high school, he relocated with his family to Phoenix, AZ. He attended Phoenix College and Arizona State University where he earned his business degree. He moved to Albuquerque in 1967 to work for First national Bank as a loan officer and then Vice President. In 1977 he joined E.F. Hutton as a stockbroker and has been with the company, now Smith Barney, until his retirement early this month. He was a past president of the following organizations: The Albuquerque Guild of the Santa Fe Opera, and the American Cancer Society, Bernalillo Chapter. He served on the boards of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, Albuquerque UMCA, Goodwill Industries of New Mexico, United Way, and Santa Ana Boys Home. He was a major supporter of the Smith Barney/New Mexico Federation of Educational Employees. Carl had a lifelong passion for classical music, enjoyed travel, golf, spending time at his home in Florida with family and friends, and was always there to snap pictures at family gatherings. Carl will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving family. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd Chapel. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wyoming and Paseo del Norte. Friends may visit French Mortuary on Sunday, August 22, 2004 and Monday, August 23, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Los Ninos Inc., PO Box 2400, Los Lunas, NM 87031, or the New Mexico Federation of Educational Employees Scholarship Fund, 8009 Mountain Rd.
