Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday August 22, 2004

Genevieve (Genny) Hines, age 89, was born to Vernon and Telva Richardson, October 27, 1914 in Orange, Texas. She was married to the late Morys "Pee Wee" Hines of Lake Charles Louisiana on January 15, 1934, and shared 61 years of a happy and loving life with him until his death in 1995. She is survived by the joys of her life: daughter, Katharine "Peachie" Brown and husband, Dick of Albuquerque; son, Morys "Peaches" Hines, Jr. and wife, Darlene Maxwell of Albuquerque; grandsons, Randy Brown and wife, Doris of Fort Collins, Colorado; Dean Hines and wife, Stefani of Albuquerque; Rusty Brown of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Amanda Brown and Greggor Hines. Her little canine protector and companion, Joy preceeded her in death. Also a sister, Margie Bottenfield of Albuquerque, and a niece and nephews. Genevieve retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1973 after twenty-two years employed as a mechanical draftsman. After retirement, she and Pee Wee spent their summers at their cabin in the Brazos River canyon enjoying the beauties and good fishing of Northern New Mexico with family, good friends and neighbors, and many local families. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and being involved with many civic and church groups, following their futures with pride and interest. Music and reading were her favorite past times. She was a 54 year member of the First Presbyterian Church where her memorial service will be held, with the Reverend Dr. Paul Debenport and the Reverend Myron White, officiating. The family wishes to thank Vista Care Hospice and her many caregivers, especially Theresa, Pearl, John, and her "specials" from the church. A Memorial Service celebrating Genevieve's life will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE. There will be a reception in Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Youth Fund, 215 Locust NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 or to a charity of your choice. Private interment of her cremains will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with those of her husband. Genevieve's credo, "This is the day which the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE (505) 275-3500
