Marie J. (Kump) August, 92, passed away on August 14, 2004. She was born in Baltimore, MD on April 19, 1912, and spent most of her life on the east coast of Maryland and Virginia. Marie moved to Albuquerque to live with her daughter, Helen, in 1991. She was the oldest of seven children. She was married to Mathew (Jake) Kump from November 1933 until April 1965, at which time Jake succumbed to cancer. She is survived by her sister, Helen Franz of Baltimore, MD; one son, John R. Kump and wife, Rachel of Big Fork, MT; two daughters, Helen Alessandrelli and husband, Joe, of Albuquerque and Donna M. Puckett and husband, Ronnie, of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, James Kump and wife, Sherry, Alice Voigt and husband, Zane, Tami McMahon, Tina Powell and husband, Matt, Lisa Dirnberger and husband, Richard, Lara Ciasulli and husband, Carl, and Ian Puckett; and ten great-grandchildren. She was married to Joseph L. August from 1969 until his death in September, 1979. With Joe she became very active in the Lady Lions and received the Senior Citizen "On the Go" award for her efforts of volunteering in Tabb, VA. She enjoyed her second family of two daughters, Jean Thomas and husband, Billy of Poquoson, VA and Frances Goetz and husband, Bob of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Teresa Bryant and husband, Clyde and Carrie Coram; and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two grandsons, Joseph and Cecil Thomas. The family wishes to thank the staff at Laurel View Healthcare for their eight years of kindness and care toward Marie. The Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m., followed by Mass at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2004 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. N.W. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Presbyterian Hospice, 8300 Constitution Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. She will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery.
