Clyde B. "Joe" Joe DeClue 13 February 1921 - 4 August 2004 Clyde B. DeClue, known as "Joe" to his family and friends, peacefully passed away in his sleep early Wednesday morning, August 4, 2004. Grandpa Joe was born to Joseph and Alice DeClue in winter of 1921 in Herculaneum, MO. During WWII he was initially stationed in Albuquerque, NM before being assigned to the Pacific Theater where he served as an engineer. While in Albuquerque he met Frances Armijo Chavez, and returned to marry her after the war. He lovingly accepted Frances's two children, Ted Springer and Armita Chavez, as his own. Armita later married Richard J. Dorso. Over time the family grew to seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. During his Fifty plus years as an Albuquerque resident, Grandpa drove logging trucks, constructed homes across New Mexico and built the KOA campground in Santa Rosa, NM where he and Nana Frances managed it for several years. In 1997 after Nana Frances passed away, he was called back to Herculaneum where he lived with his widowed sister, Helen Vogt. Upon Helen's passing in July 2000, Grandpa returned to the Southwest where he happily lived his remaining years in Tucson with his grandchildren. He was a respected member of the Tucson Community Church where he made new friends that he amazed with adventurous stories of his life; Grandpa was loved and will be missed by many. We ask that you respect our Grandfather's memory by honoring the men and woman who serve our country, past and present. Our Grandfather passed away on the 4th of August along with over One-Thousand of his WWII comrades. Memorial and burial service will be held Monday the 16th of August, 2004 at the Santa Fe Veterans National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
