Charlotte Beers Bruce, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, passed away at the Montebello Nursing Home on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Charlotte is survived by her two sons, Donald Roger Bruce of Albuquerque, NM and Robert Arthur Bruce of San Francisco, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas McIntire Bruce on June 7, 1991, and her brother, Roger Whitney Beers on June 11, 1982. Charlotte Elizabeth Beers was born on July 20, 1916 in Gardner, MA, the only daughter of Alfred Whitney Beers and Ardella Lydia Clancy. Following high school graduation and one year of art school, Charlotte played trumpet in several 'all-girl' bands from 1935 to 1940. She married Douglas McIntire Bruce in 1940, and they remained married until his death. As an artist, she exhibited in Buffalo, Albuquerque, and Hawaii and was a member of the NM Art League and the NM Watercolor Society.
