Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday August 08, 2004

Richard (Dick) Happy Birthday Dad/Husband !!! Although it has been 2 short months, it seems like a lifetime. There isn't a day that doesn't go by without seeing you or hearing your voice our minds. Daddy's Hands by Holly Dunn is my tribute to the kind of man you were to your family. I remember daddy's hand folded silently in prayer. And Reachin' out to hold me, when I had a nightmare. You could read quite a story in the callous' and lines years of work and worry left their mark. I remember daddy's hands how they held my mama tight and patted my back for something done right. There are things that I'd forgotten that I loved about you, But I'll always remember the love in daddy's hands. Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin' Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I've come to understand There was always love in daddy's hands. I remember daddy's hands workin' 'til they bled. Sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed. If I could do thing over, I'd live my life again, and never take for granted the love in daddy's hands. Dad/Honey everyone says you are in a better place, and we beg to differ. We wish you were here to wish you a wonderful birthday. We miss and love you dearly. You will be in our thoughts always. We will make up for the birhtdays we missed with you when we meet again. With all our love, Shuane, Vivian, Stephen and Your Honey (Elsie)
