Obituary for BRODBECK

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday July 20, 2004

George John, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2004, from a short battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Polly; daughters Julie Brodbeck and husband Rodger McGimsey, Barrie Benson, Georgia Artery and husband Dave Artery; grandchildren, Michael Brodbeck, Chad Keaty, and Jaclyn Keaty; and many special friends. He is predeceased by his daughter, Diane Brodbeck; and parents, George Sr. and Daisy Brodbeck. George was born in New Castle, PA on April 2, 1922 and graduated from New Castle High School in 1941. In 1962, he moved his family to Albuquerque where he worked for ACF Industries and retired from General Electric in December 1983. He was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church and a Life Member of Elks Lodge #461. George and Polly enjoyed many wonderful trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin and would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Aug. 30, 2004. He loved playing golf with his children and grandchildren. In his younger years, he was quite a trumpet player and loved big band music. George had a very quick wit about him and was so much fun to be around. We will miss him dearly. Thank you to all his doctors and special thanks to all the wonderful and caring people at the Kaseman Hospice Program. Memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul NE, on July 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kaseman Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
