Obituary for HACKARD

Dennis LaMar Hackard, 66, a resident of Albuquerque, lost his long hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer on July 2, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Madeline "Van" Hackard; daughter, Leesa Hanagan and husband Ron of Centreville, VA; son, Christopher Hackard and wife Lisa of Boston, MA; brother, Martin Hackard and wife Merrilyn of Twin Falls, ID and brother, Darwin Hackard of Belen, NM; niece, Gretchen Esson and husband Bill of ID; nephew, Eric Hackard and wife Sue of Marietta, GA; and niece, Valerie Billingsly and husband Steve of Belen, NM. His parents, LaMar and Lillian Hackard, preceded him in death. Dennis was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa on September 12, 1937. He moved with his parents to Albuquerque in November 1945 and graduated from Highland High School in 1955. Dennis worked as an electrician before being drafted into the U.S. Army serving from August 9, 1961 to August 8, 1963. He was a long-standing member of IBEW, Local 611 until going to work at Sandia Labs in 1981 from which he retired in 2000. After retiring, Dennis enjoyed traveling, going to the casino and volunteering his time helping his wife at Manzano High School. Services will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, Inc., 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110 or Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice Inpatient Unit, 8300 Constitution NE 87110 or to the charity of your choice.
