Michael V. Mares, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday June 26, 2004. Michael was born on December 10, 1957 in Albuquerque to Bill and Mary Mares. He is survived by his parents; brother, Gary Mares and wife, Jo; sister, Michele Boland and husband, John; sister, Janelle Howe and husband, Winston; his loving nieces and nephews: Sam, Jeff, Victoria, Andrea, Rio, Winston and Matt; his special uncle, Albert Barela; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and friends; and his beloved dog, Oscar. Michael graduated from Sandia High School and went on to Stanford University, where he received a BS degree and also received an MBA from UNM, Robert O. Anderson Graduate School of Business. He worked for several years at United Technologies and went on to management at FHP. Michael along with his sister Michele, formed M & M Insurance Agency, a very successful insurance agency here in Albuquerque. Michael's hobbies were reading, writing, and playing on his computer. He also enjoyed scuba diving and dancing. Michael was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend, and he will be greatly missed. A Rosary for Michael will be recited on Thursday evening, July 1, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary with the Funeral Services on Friday, July 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at John XXII Catholic Community, located at 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE, North of Montgomery, 1 block west on Manitoba off Tramway.
