Obituary for BATEMAN

William Matheny Bateman, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died June 4, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Willva Delgado of Albuquerque; son, Jerry Bateman of Denver; grandchildren, Carolyn Delgado, Julie Delgado and her husband Gary Wershum, Anthony Delgado, Lauren Bateman; great-grandchildren, Candace and Stephan Delgado. Bill served with both the Merchant Marines and the US Navy in World War II. As a civilian, he was personnel director for the Western Allied Fleet. He was a life long member of the Benevolent and Paternal Order of Elks and was a founding member of the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen. His work experience included, Phillips Petroleum Company and Exxon Minerals Company. He was married to Neva Marie Bateman, who proceeded him in death. His greatest loves were his wife, his family and travel of all kinds; particularly ocean cruises. Memorial services wee held in Albuquerque and Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, on July 2, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Donations honoring Bill's life may be made to the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboy Band Endowment Fund at PO Box 16100, Abilene, Texas 79693-6100.
