Ann Egan, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 30 years passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2004. Ann was born August 2, 1925 the daughter of Joseph and Angela Manzi DeMaio in Brooklyn, New York. She had been an Administrative Assistant in the banking and insurance industries before she retired. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Ann lead a colorful and varied life. She loved life and had a great sense of humor! As an avid dancer and music lover, Ann belonged to the Rio Ramblers square dancing group. She was an avid sports fan who loved following the UNM Lobos. Ann was a score keeper for Little League and she also enjoyed bowling. Ann was instrumental in establishing a recycling program in Rio Rancho. To that end, she was active with KEEP RIO RANCHO BEAUTIFUL, worked at the Public Library and was a hospital volunteer for five years at what is now West Mesa Medical Center. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Ann was preceded in death by one sister, Julie Devins. She is survived by her husband Thomas of Rio Rancho; four children, Donna Wood and husband Craig of Albuquerque; Kathleen Villarose and husband John of Orlando, FL; Mary Ellen Franklin and husband Dan of Bastrop, TX; Thomas J. Egan and wife Karen of Westin, FL; six grandchildren, Ann-Marie Villarose and Deanna Villarose, Keri and Kristin Franklin, Tyler, Amber Wood, Nikkie Barnett and Chelsie Middleton; one sister, Theresa Johnston and husband, Donald; brother-in-law, Edward Devins; sister-in-law Betty Larson; cousins, Dr. Donald Capra, George DeMaio, Lillian and Julia Gulotta, and Vincent Riehl and family; and nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited for Ann on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, May 21, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, it has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Ann's name to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Attn: Martin Sedillo, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
