Obituary for GARCIA

John Garcia Sr., 77, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on May 13, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary Garcia of Albuquerque; one daughter, Kathy Garcia and special friend, Carol Zink of Corrales; five sons, John Garcia Jr., and wife, Cindy of Arlington, TX, James Garcia and wife, Margaret, Jerry Garcia and wife, MaryAnn, Larry Garcia and wife, Stephanie and Don Garcia and wife, Vivienne all of Albuquerque, NM; his beloved dog, Skippy; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Margie Romero and husband, Gene of Albuquerque. John is preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. John was a three time Commander of the American Legion Post 13 as well as the Adjutant and the department Vice Commander for two years. He volunteered at the VA Hospital, was a Captain with the Volunteer Sheriffs Department in Paradise Hills. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel with Deacon George Sandoval, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper NW with Father Richard McGowan, celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Garcia, Robert Galloway, Mike Overall, Nick Garcia, Mike Fisher and Jay Salisbury. Honorary pallbearers will be Jess Hernandez, Bruce Smith, Mickey Garcia, Henry Garcia, Harry Marquez, Gene Romero and Duane Byle.
