Dorothy "Dottie" Collins, passed away Saturday evening, May 8, 2004 after a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Rooyakkers and husband, Frank of Evans, GA; son, Mike Collins and wife, Wanda of Albuquerque; daughter, Patti Miller of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Julie Carpenter, Jennifer Carpenter, Steve Rooyakkers, Jordan Miller, Scott Collins, and Jenna Collins; great grandchildren, Dylan Rogers and Avery Bondesson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick F. Collins on December 4, 1976, son, John Carpenter III on June 24, 2001, and six sisters. Dottie was born in Manor, TX, one of seven daughters born to Claude and Louise Johnson. She was raised on a cotton farm. Dottie met her husband, Patrick F. Collins, when he was stationed at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, TX. They were married on August 10, 1946. They moved to Albuquerque in 1963 where they raised their four children. She volunteered for 12 years at St. Joseph Hospital. Dottie was a devoted mother, doting grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lovelace Sandia Hospice, Attn: Pam Maestas, 5403 Gibson Blvd. SE, 87108. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2004, 3:30 pm., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating.
