Obituary for CAUGHRAN

Elsie Faith Caughran, 83, passed away very peacefully at home May 7, 2004. Elsie was born in McComb, OK, May 19, 1920 to John and Eva Bliss and moved to Grady, NM when she was 5 years old. She married her first grade sweetheart James Virgil Caughran on June 29, 1941. Elsie went to collage in Portales, NM and taught school in Columbus and Grady, NM for several years. She and Virgil moved to Dove Creek, CO in the mid 1940s where she taught school and helped Virgil farm and run his LP Gas business. She has lived in Albuquerque for over 45 years where she helped Virgil with his Real Estate business and took care of her son, Don. Elsie was an active volunteer for the Lovelace Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years. Elsie was a wonderful pianist playing for the Methodist Churches wherever she lived. She was an avid reader, loved to play bridge with her many friends and loved to be outdoors and work in her garden. She loved to spend time with Virgil at their Mount Taylor home. She was a very active member of the communities where she lived. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Don. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Virgil Caughran of Albuquerque, NM; her sister, Mildred Merrill of Clovis, NM; one niece and many nephews; her daughter - in-law and other family. Elsie was an elegant, charming, warm, nurturing lady who loved people and people loved her. She always had a smile and lent a helping hand. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Private family interment will be held.
