Aurora "Lola" C. Irvin, 86, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2004. She was born in Silver City on February 27, 1918 to Manuel Chavez and Isabel Montoya-Quintanar. Lola served 38 years at the Veterans Administration hospitals in Fort Bayard and Albuquerque. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1965 where she retired in 1993. Lola loved jewelry, shopping, watching classic movies and told tales of spending endless hours at movie theaters when she was young. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Augustino Piacentino and William Irvin; and by her aunt and uncle, Nicholas and Silvestra Chavez. She is survived by her son, Richard Irvin; her granddaughter, Carmela Chavez; her Goddaughters, Olivia Pina, Ana McPherson and Monique Reyes; and by her many friends and family members. She was buried at Fort Bayard National Cemetery on Friday, April 16, 2004.
