Obituary for PAIRSH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 11, 2004

Thelma Pairsh, a resident of New Mexico since 1910 and of Albuquerque since 1951, passed away March 17, 2004. Her husband of 27 years, Leon, preceded her in death in 1978. The couple had no children, but Thelma leaves behind a brother, Herman Zuber, and sister, Eliesa Ehrlich, both of Turlock, California, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews scattered across the country. Born Thelma Pauline Zuber on December 29, 1905, in Martelle, Iowa, she moved with her family to a farm east of Last Vegas, New Mexico, when she was four years old. She graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1926, and received a Bachelor's degree from New Mexico Highlands University in 1938. An outstanding educator herself, who instilled a love of learning in many students over her long career, she taught in several communities around the state until her retirement in 1971. She was a remarkable woman with a pioneer spirit who will be missed, and remembered with much love and fondness, by all who knew her. A graveside memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 15, at Sunset Memorial Park, located at Edith and Menaul in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember her with a donation to your favorite charity. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
