Obituary for HARRIS

Floyd A. Harris, born March 23, 1917, passed away, April 7, 2004. Floyd moved from Colorado to New Mexico when he was very young. He was raised in Albuquerque. He graduated form Albuquerque High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. Floyd was an Optician the majority of his life. He owned Ridgecrest Optical Dispensary. After he sold Ridgecrest optical he and his wife, Wilma owned and operated Valley Optical in Moriarty. Floyd was a 32 degree Mason and a member of Ballut Abyad Shrine. He was a member of the Clown Unit for many years. He was Uncle Sam on stilts (despite his bad knees) for many years. He was also a Past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters, Bethel #6. He was a member of the Albuquerque Baseball/Softball Hall of Fame since 1988. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Kit Harris, brother, Charlie and Frederick Harris and a sister, Virginia Lambert. He is survived by one sister, Jewel. His wife of 63 years, Wilma, daughters, Nancy Levesque, Janie Piersol and husband, Paul, sons, Floyd D. (Butch) Harris and Shelly and Chuck Harris. Grandchildren, Randy and Sheila Case, Chance and Elaine Levesque, Troy and Kim Levesque, Buffy and Anthony Vigil and Doug and Risa Case. Great-grandchildren, Randy Case, Robbie Case, Doug Case, Lutrecia Vigil, Shane Levesque, Jaylen Case, Shelby Vigil, Kailah Case, Kyle Case, Tariq Levesque, Kendra Levesque and Tyler Levesque. Floyd was an avid lover of sports, golf, basketball, softball and all sports. His great love of his older years was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating.
