Obituary for DAVIS

James E. Davis died peacefully April 9 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; sister, Patricia Roberts; son, Mark and his family, wife, Pat, son Brian, daughter Beth and grandson Taren; and son Terry and his daughter Christina. Born in Binghamton, NY, he served in the Navy at the end of World War II. He later was appointed as Sealer of Weights and Measures for Broome County, NY, and served in that position in the 1960s and early 1970s. He became an inspector of Weights and Measures for the State of New York in the 1970s and retired from the state in 1988. He was an active member in the three chapters of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA), in Binghamton, Albuquerque and Watertown, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or SPEBSQSA.
