Obituary for KLUVER

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday March 16, 2004

Helen Lyons Kluver, formerly of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, peacefully died at home at Aspen Ridge Lodge in Los Alamos on Sunday morning, March 14, 2004. She was 93. She was born in Excelsior, Minnesota in 1911, the eldest of seven children. She experienced and rose to all the challenges and changes of the 20th century, through which she lived. She was a "flapper", who loved their 1931 Model A. She never forgot the depression and its lessons. During World War II, she was a plane spotter in California during the constant air raid alerts and then began her career working for the military in the Panama Canal Zone. After the war, she moved to Albuquerque and worked for eighteen years at Sandia National Laboratories. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Thomson of Santa Fe, and Candace Frostenson of Los Alamos, and sons-in-law, James Thomson and Carl Frostenson. Helen's special delight were grandchildren, Anne, James, Chris and David Thomson, and Day and Sky Frostenson, and four great grandchildren. A private Service of Burial of the Dead will be held at the Episcopalian Parish Church of St. Barnabas on the Desert in Scottsdale, Arizona. She will join her husband of fifty-one years, Wessel Kluver, who died in 1985, in the Memorial Garden at St. Barnabas Church. She always danced when she could and was ready for the next adventure. May the Lord bless her and keep her; May the Lord make His face shine upon her, and be gracious unto her; May the Lord lift up His countenance upon her and give her peace. Amen Memorials in Helen's name may be sent to Continuing Education Scholarships for Health Care Workers, administered by the Foundation Board Auxiliary, St. Vincent Hospital, 455 St. Michael's Drive, Santa Fe, New Mexico, 87505.
