Obituary for JOHNSTON

Richard M. Johnston, 44, died March 12, 2004, in Albuquerque. A resident of the area since 1965, he was self-employed for 20 years as a roofing contractor. Born in Baltimore, Md., he is the son of Richard E. Johnston and Jean F. Whitman Johnston. Richard lived life to the fullest with his family and friends. He was a devoted father to Leslie, Samantha and Cooper. He was blessed to have the amazing love and support of Cindy Lusk and her dear family. As an outdoorsman he loved hunting, his horses and his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Jane Johnston, and by his father in 2003. He is survived by his mother, Jean; his children, Leslie Jean Martinez, Samantha Lynn Johnston and Cooper Barret Johnston; his loving partner, Cindy Reed Lusk and her children, Jerry Lusk and wife, Lauren, Jennifer Lusk and fiance, John D’Amato; sisters and brothers, Joanne Ferrary and husband, Richard of Las Cruces, Janice Lucero and husband, Arthur, John Johnston and wife, Susan of Albuquerque, Steven Johnston and wife, Laura, and Kevin Johnston, all of Denver. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Michael and James Schirmer, Angie Koeniker, Jennifer and Robert Johnston, Michelle and Greg Laskowski, Kathryn Lucero, Nicholas and Benjamin Johnston. Thanks to all of the many friends and family who were along for the wonderful forty-four year ride of Rick's life! Memorial service will be Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Vista Verde Mortuary Chapel, 4310 Sara Road in Rio Rancho, N.M. A reception follows the service.
