Obituary for MARTINEZ

Domingo "Bingo" B. Martinez, born April 27, 1916 in Sena, New Mexico, died peacefully on March 9th, 2004 in his home in Albuquerque surrounded by his loved ones. He was greeted in heaven by his son, Carlos and his beloved grandson, Gerald. He leaves behind his adored wife, Isabel to whom he gasped his last words "I Love You;" his beloved children, Antonia Sandoval and husband, Lawrence, Ernest and Robert Martinez, Antoinette Grubbs and husband, Malcolm, Ann Gabaldon and husband, Steven, and Edwina Martinez; his grandchildren, Michelle and husband, Gino, Samantha, Brian, Stephanie, Renee, Ernest, Stephanie, Jennifer, Jeff and Brianna; his great grandchildren; sisters, Rosave Lucero, Modesta Tafoya, Nieves Juarez and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a Prisoner of War for 3 1/2 years during WWII. He survived the Bataan Death March; because of his sacrifices and sufferings and those of people like him, we enjoy the freedoms they fought to preserve "We will never forget." Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW with Father Daniel Balizan celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with military honors. Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Anaya and Felix Jaramillo. Pallbearers will be Ernest C. Martinez, Jeff Grubbs, Leroy Lucero, Gerald Chavez, Matthew Perea and Gilbert Hansen. Special thank you to Richard and Patricia Baca, Emily Lucero, Hazel Martinez, Patsy Aragon, Ernest Esparza, John Valencia and Dr. Jerry Montoya. In lieu of flowers Domingo would have appreciated memorial contributions be made to Madison L. Sweitzer, his great grandniece.
