Jessie M. Rice, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died on Saturday, March 6, 2004. She is survived by her children, Beverly Nelson of Nucla, CO; William Rice of Bella Vista, AR and Betsi Garner of Wimberley, TX; she is also survived by four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger B. Rice, in 2003. Jessie was born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1914. Jessie graduated from Marshall University in 1936 and taught school at Man High School from 1936 to 1939 in Man, West Virginia. She married Roger in 1939. From 1965 to 1968, she was a substitute teacher at Plainfield High School in Plainfield, Illinois. She and Roger ran their own business in Albuquerque from 1968 to retirement.
