Obituary for LOPEZ

Emilio Lopez, age 92, of Los Lunas, New Mexico died on Wednesday, March 3, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Chavez Lopez; and his mother, Concepcion "Concha" Lopez . Emilio was raised and educated in Albuquerque; graduating from Albuquerque High School, and receiving a master's degree from The University of New Mexico where he lettered in both basketball and football. After college, he began his teaching and coaching career at Gadsden High School in Anthony, New Mexico where he taught for one year. He then joined the Los Lunas school system. During his long, outstanding tenure, he was a high school classroom teacher, basketball and football coach, administrator, and principal until his retirement. Emilio died in the state of grace and was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, 244 Luna Ave., Los Lunas. In accordance with his most profound wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Clement Catholic Church in Los Lunas on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. He has been laid to rest alongside his mother at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque. Thank you to the Ambercare and Hospice staff for their care and kindness. Thank you also to Father Rick and his staff at St. Clement Catholic Church, with a special thank you to Mrs. Sylvia Aragon, his Eucharistic minister for the last several years.
