Vinita "Nita" Evelyn Booth Harris, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, died Tuesday, March 09, 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Army Colonel (Ret) Judd Thomas Harris, Jr., in 1999. She is survived by five children; Kristin Booth Harris Pilling; Michael Thomas Harris and wife, Sandy; Craig Mitchell Harris; Steven Patrick Harris and wife, Gena all of Albuquerque; and Scott William Harris and wife, DeeDee of Fort Worth, TX. She leaves ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In addition to raising five children, and being a Career Army Wife, she retired from Kirtland Weapons Lab after a long and successful civil service career in 1992. She graduated from the University of Washington, Phi Beta Kappa, was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and the Evening Optimist Club of Albuquerque. She was an accomplished bridge player, seamstress, water and snow skier. Services will be Monday, March 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Monday, March 15, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. until service.
