Obituary for WENGER

James Elwin Wenger-LCDR, USN (Ret) born April 19, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN, passed away at home unexpectedly on March 4, 2004. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1933 and served honorably for 28 years. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and a past president of the local chapter of PHSA. After retiring from the Navy, he earned a BS in Education at NMSU and a MA at UNM. He taught math for 16 years at Los Lunas Junior High. After retiring from teaching, he and his wife traveled extensively. He was a 32ND degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member and Past Master of Albuquerque Lodge #60. He is survived by Martha, his wife of 51 years; daughters Diana Roberts of Torrance, CA; Sandra Kurata of Pearl City, HI; Carol Orr and husband Tom of Graham, WA; Laura Shifflett and husband Chuck of the Netherlands; son James, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter, Martha Roberts of Signal Hill, CA; sisters, Marguarite Frush of Bloomington, MN; Lorraine Conradi of St. Louis Park, MN; Grace Carlson and husband Curt, of Washburn, ND; brothers, Dick Wenger and wife Pat, of McKean, PA, and Donald Wenger and wife Cindy, of Austin, TX. His brother Kenzie Wenger, whose wife Beverly, resides in Tioga, ND, predeceased him. Jim was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be greatly missed.
