Jan Brandiger Avegalio passed away on February 3, 2004 in American Samoa, where she was laid to rest. After a long battle with MS she will be greatly missed, but her spirit has been freed from the body that held her captive. She was born on September 22, 1954 in Denver, CO, and grew up in Albuquerque. She attended Our Lady of the Assumption School and St. Pius X High School. She is survived by her husband, Edward C. (Kuki) Avegalio of American Samoa; her son, Brian Walker and wife, Jennifer of Las Cruces; daughter, Tara Graves and husband, Keith of Houston, Texas, son, Jason Helmich and wife, Nina, of American Samoa, four grandchildren; parents, Joe and Mary Jane Brandiger, as well as sisters, Chris Gentry, Julie Avery, Maryann Jones and brother, Tony Brandiger. A memorial mass will be celebrated by her cousin, Father Patrick Dolan of Denver, on Saturday, March 6, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Tennesee and Lomas NE, Albuquerque.
