Katheryn Marie Ritz, 99, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 11 years, died Saturday, February 28, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Smith of Albuquerque; son, James Michael Ritz and wife, Mary Ann of Litteton, CO; 11 grandchildren, including Mark and Deborah Smith of Albuquerque and Rebecca Valles of Los Angeles, CA; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ritz, sons, George Ritz, Richard Ritz and 13 siblings. Katheryn was born into a pioneer family in Colorado. She grew up in a coal mining camp. Rosary will be recited Thursday, March 4, 2004, 6:00 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walsenburg, CO. Services will be held Friday, March 5, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Mary's North Cemetery in Walsenburg, CO. Friends may visit St. Mary's Catholic Church, Thursday, March 4, 2004, 4:00 p.m. until time of Rosary.
