Melba A. Montoya, age 57, a resident of Belen passed away on Sunday, February 29, 2004. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church where she served as Director of Religious Education at the CCD office. She so loved her husband, Fidel, who was her childhood sweatheart. Melba loved being around her grandchildren, whom she called her little angels. She was preceded in death by her father, Lillialdo Padilla; her husband, Fidel Montoya; her brother, Joe Padilla; sister, Elizabeth Tafoya and nephew, Michael Don Sanchez. Melba is survived by her mother, Clorinda Padilla; her children, Kelly Rose and her husband, Bruce McGrew, Ida and her husband, Doug Tyree, Karen and her husband, Ronald Gabaldon; six grandchildren, Kristen, Corey, Jonathan, Michael, Zachary, and Lauren; brother, Leroy Padilla and sister, Frances Sanchez and many loving nephews and nieces. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary following at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta with interment following at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Leroy Padilla, Carlos Navarete, Bruce McGrew, Robert Lopez, Elautario Sanchez, and Jonathan Gabaldon. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeannie Chavez. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N.
