Francis "Sonny" Nilsen, age 70, a native New Mexican, died Friday, February 27, 2004. Sonny retired from PNM after 33 years of service. His life passion was his family, friends and horseracing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Flora Nilsen; and his brother, Vivian Nilsen. Sonny is survived by his wife, JoAnn Nilsen; five children, Becky Lucero (Sal), Debi Conrad (Mike), Alan Nilsen (Tina), Jolene Peralta (Jerry) and Jimmy Chacon (Lori); sisters, Flora Thomas, Esther Hoover and Irene McCrory; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited Sunday, February 29, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 1, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Avenue NE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Sunday, February 29, 2004, from 1:00 p.m. until time of rosary.
