Obituary for SHELDON

Thomas Churchill Sheldon was born on June 20, 1930 in Hancock, MI and died on February 15, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a kind and loving husband, friend and father who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Sheldon; children, Mary Elizabeth Gonzales and husband Louie of Cedar Crest, NM, and Mark Thomas Sheldon and wife, Suzy of Reno, NV; five grandsons, Matt, Zane, TJ, Kale and Jaylen; sister, Alice Sheldon of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Churchill and Josephine (Coughlin) Sheldon; brothers, Stephen and David Sheldon; sisters, Eleanor Sheldon, Elizabeth Sheldon Maloney, Mary Sheldon Bentley and Julianne Sheldon Sheehan. Tom moved with his family to Salt Lake City, UT at the age of five. He proudly served his country on the battlefield while he was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Tom was student body president and graduated from Westminster College in Salt Lake City with a BS in Accounting. He had a fulfilling 34 year career with Del Monte Food Corporation in San Francisco, CA. Tom was a founding member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Edgewood, where he attended until his passing. He had a beautiful Irish tenor voice and sang in numerous choirs during his life. Tom was also very active in the Del Monte Credit Union serving on their Board of Directors from 1979 until 1990. Celebration of his life will be held Friday, February 20, 2004, 5:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 367 State Road 344, in Edgewood, with a meal with the family afterwards.
