Obituary for JONES

Lloyd W. Jones, 74, passed away surrounded by his family at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque on February 16, 2004. Lloyd was born on May 1, 1929 in Wellington, Texas to Andrew and Jewell Jones. The family was all descendants of early settlers of the Texas Panhandle. In 1942, the family moved to a farm south of Portales, New Mexico. Lloyd attended and graduated from Portales High School. He met his wife of 54 years, Etolia Jones, in Portales, and the high school sweethearts married in October of 1949. Lloyd worked as a telephone lineman and an electrician for the majority of his life in Portales, NM, Wilcox, AZ and Ruidoso, NM before moving to Albuquerque in 1981. He worked in apartment management and for a number of years at the U.S. DOE Central Training Academy's Live Fire Range. He was a member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Albuquerque. His parents and one brother preceded Lloyd in death. He is survived by his wife, Etolia; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Charles Fagan of Albuquerque; a son and daughter-in-law, Col. (Ret.) Guy and Gail Jones of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Mr. Burrell Jones of Tulia, Texas; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Lou Fry of Lubbock, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2004 at the Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Albuquerque.
