Obituary for MOORE

Laura Lee Moore, 58, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at home surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gary Moore of Albuquerque; son, Dr. David Moore and wife, Dr. Jenny Halpern of Nashville, TN; daughter, Melissa Taylormoore and husband, Dr. Jonathan Taylormoore of Falls Church, VA; her parents, Jack and Bobbie Sharp of Las Cruces; her two nephews and niece, Jack, Ben and Margaret Knorr of Artesia. Laura Lee was preceded in death by her sister, Debra Sharp Knorr of Artesia. She was dedicated to raising her family and living everyday with vitality and joy. Laura Lee is dearly loved by her family and friends for her sense of humor, integrity, persistence, and passion that she demonstrated by how she lived her life. She graduated from the University of Arizona, and went on to receive her Masters Degree from the University of New Mexico. Laura Lee was active in the Albuquerque community for over 30 years. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, having served as the first female Senior Warden. Laura Lee served on numerous community boards, including as a founding trustee of the Albuquerque Community Foundation, as Chairperson at Albuquerque Academy and as a board member of the Komen Race for the Cure, Samaritan Counseling Foundation, Presbyterian Heart Institute and Chaparral Girl Scout Council. She was president of the Junior League and of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority Alumni Association. Laura Lee worked as the Director of Institutional Advancement at Albuquerque Academy over six years, and was named Outstanding Fundraising Executive by the New Mexico Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She will be deeply missed by all of those who loved her, but we know that she is at peace and that she is with us in spirit. Services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2004, at 9:00 a.m., at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver Avenue SW, with The Very Rev. Alan Dennis, The Very Rev. John Haverland and The Rev. Ken Clark officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
