Helen Leonard, 99, died Monday, January 26, 2004. She was born April 12, 1904 in Aurelia, Iowa. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bill Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Leonard and daughter, Lou Ann Pawlik. Mrs. Leonard graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and had a private kindergarten in Albuquerque for many years. She and her husband retired to Tempe, AZ in the early 70's. She returned to Albuquerque four years ago to be with her daughter and family. She is also survived by her sister, Gladys in Flint, MI and six grandchildren; Patrick Sullivan and wife, Cori, Bridget Self and husband, Paul, John Balthes, Richard Balthes, Jeannie Kating, and David Balthes. She had 18 great-grandchildren. Two nieces also survive her, Janice Matthews and Kristin Hogge. She was a beautiful and dignified mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Private burial will take place in Cherokee, Iowa.
