Mercedes Romero Zamora died Saturday, January 17, 2004. Mercedes was born in Corrales NM on October 8, 1919 to David and Bernardita Romero. She was a member of the San Ysidro Catholic Church and a former member of the Catholic Daughters. Mercedes loved to spend time working in her yard and quilting with her friends at the Corrales Community Center. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul H. Zamora in 1997. Mercedes is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jake Zamora and also from the family home, Amanda Zamora and Jacob Zamora. She also leaves behind seven children, Lydia Martinez, Patricia Martinez, Fernando Apodaca, Bernadette De Anda and husband, Preciliano, Rita Romo and husband, Eddie, Clarance Apodaca and his wife, Elaine, Anthony Zamora and his wife, Marie. Mercedes was blessed with 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 21, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
