Gebra Grace Grunau Owen, 47, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, January 15, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Chuck Owen of Albuquerque; sister, Gwen Hollback and husband, John of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Gary Grunau and wife, Trisha of Richmond, VA; sister-in-law, Carol Swearingen of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Erin and Kacie Grunau; nephews, Jasher and Chris Grunau, Jason and Jeff Hollback, Kent, Keith, Kris and Kurt Swearingen and her special dogs, Brewster and Rocky Hayes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Miriam Grunau. Geby was born in Canton, Ohio and graduated from Canton McKinley High School. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelors of science in education. Geby was a special education teacher in St. Petersburg, FL. She and her husband moved to Albuquerque in 1984 and opened Stanley Steemer Franchise in Albuquerque which they still own. She served as treasurer for the local "The Ohio State Alumni Club". She enjoyed running and ran the La Luz Marathon several times. Geby was known for her creative ability, artistic talents, and planning of special events. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2004, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Cremation will follow.
