Lucinda Chavez Lopez, 103, died January 2, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospice Center in Albuquerque. Mrs. Lopez married Maximiano Lopez and moved from Albuquerque to New Kirk, NM where she raised two sons and ran the family ranch with great strength and ingenuity during very difficult times. Mr. and Mrs. Lopez moved to Tucumcari, NM during WWII where Maximiano's WWI injuries were easier to care for. Maximiano died in 1966 and son, Carlos died in 2001. Mrs. Lopez is survived by son, Fred Lopez; grandchildren, David P. Lopez, Phillip R. Lopez and wife, Priscilla, Yvonne Lopez Garcia and husband, Randy, Carla Lopez and husband, Michael E. Vigil, and Edward M. Lopez and wife, Debbie; great-grandchildren, Randy Mark Garcia, Lauren Garcia, Rachel Lopez, Miquela Vigil, Cristina Vigil, David V. Lopez, Amanda E. Lopez, Galen P. Lopez, Jessi Marie Lopez, Justin Westbrook, and Jami Lopez. Mrs. Lopez will be remembered as a woman of tremendous strength and faith. Cremation has taken place. Services will be January 9, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at 4904 Laurene Ct. NW. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mrs. Lopez memory to Presbyterian Hospice Center.
