Judge Richard Blackhurst, retired, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Saturday, January 3, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Amanda R. Blackhurst of Albuquerque; children, Frances Toon and husband, Bill of Mesa, AZ, Richard A. Blackhurst of Santa Fe, Honey Griswold and husband, Bill of Rio Rancho, Elizabeth Blackhurst of Albuquerque and Fontaine Gregreson and husband, Max of Park City, UT; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Romney and husband, Keith of Salt Lake City, UT; and brothers, Burt Blackhurst and wife, Viva of Pocatello, ID, Jonathan Blackhurst of Salt Lake City, UT and Steven Blackhurst and wife, Karen of Moreno Valley, CA. He was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Ann Blackhurst and grandsons, Jonathan Richard Toon and Aaron Alexander Blackhurst. Judge Blackhurst was on the Faculty of the Judicial College, State of New Mexico, lower courts. He was a member of the Evening Optomists, the J.C.'s, and the 20-30 Club. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints-Sage Ward, 8130 Sage Rd. SW, with Bishop Jared Larsen officiating. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be William M. Toon II, Geoffrey S. Toon, Jonathan Blackhurst, Steven Blackhurst, Lance M. Campbell and Leonard Morales. Honorary pallbearers will be David M. Toon, Steve Montoya, Jason Bushman and Austin McFall.
