Fred Cunico, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 26, 2003. Fred was a native New Mexican born near Raton on December 23, 1912 to Chris and Antonia Basso Cunico. Fred enjoyed oil painting, adored Italian opera, enjoyed hunting, and was a world class fly fisherman. He was active in several organizations including, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, proud member of the National Rifle Association, and a devoted member of Trout Unlimited. Fred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mariette; his children, Juliette Cunico and Frederick A. Cunico, both of Albuquerque; brother, Chris Cunico and wife Pearl of Raton, NM; sisters, Anne Chrapkowski and Emma Allen; granddaughters Marguerite (Mimi) Peavy, Mariette (Syd) Peavy, Rachael Donaldson; his great-grandchildren, Colette Peavy-Hardman and Natalie Peavy, several nieces, nephews and many cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service for Fred will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in the activity room at The Manzano Del Sol Retirement Center, 5201 Roma Ave. NE, in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trout Unlimited, 1500 Wilson Blvd., Suite 310, Arlington, VA 22209.
