George Orr Thorne, 86, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 25, 2003. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Mildred Furlough of Virginia Beach, VA and Dorothy Joyner of Taverres, FL and several nieces and nephews. George was a play by play Baseball announcer, and owned and operated his own diner. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories in the security department, where he retired. George was a member of the Masonic Lodge and he served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Private ennichement of cremains will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
