Anton "Bun" Wrhel, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Friday, December 19, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Lena Wrhel of Albuquerque; three daughters, Linda Schulmeister and husband, Richard of Las Cruces, Peggy Wrhel of Albuquerque and Janice Wrhel of Santa Fe; two grandchildren, Darlene DeMondo and husband, Steve of Park City, UT and Ron Schulmeister and wife, Kim of Las Cruces; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, Gina, Kevin, Michael and Diane. He was preceded in death by his six brothers. Mr. Wrhel, the son of Raymond and Louisa Wrhel, was born and raised in Pekin, IL. He married Lena Drago in 1940. They shared nearly 64 years together. The Wrhel’s came to Albuquerque in 1952, where Mr. Wrhel worked and later retired from General Electric. He was a member of the Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. Mr. Wrhel was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing, golf and bowling. He was a loving husband and a devoted father. Memorial services will be held Monday, December 22, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
