Frances Maude Edmunds-Ballas, 89, a resident of Prescott, AZ and former resident of Albuquerque for 65 years, died Sunday, December 14, 2003. She is survived by her son, Lionel Edmunds and wife, Myrtle of Sierra Vista, AZ; daughter, Juanita Walker and husband, Herb of Prescott Valley, AZ; grandson, Scott McBride and fiance, Shawn Patrick of Prescott Valley, AZ; great-grandsons, Brandon McBride of Phoenix, AZ, Matthew and Nicholas McBride of Whitefish, MT; four sisters, Eva Bundick of Bryan, TX, Johnnie Kohutek of Huntsville, TX, Josephine Webb and husband, Alex of Slaton, TX and LaVerne Riley of Albuquerque; brother, Pete Rayborn and wife, Nadine of Weatherford, TX; and numerous nephews and nieces. Mrs. Ballas was born July 12, 1914 in Dundee, Texas. She received her nurses training at the old St. Joseph's School of Nursing and practiced her profession in Albuquerque Hospitals as well as at the Carrie Tingley Crippled Children's Hospitals in T or C, NM. Mrs. Ballas retired from nursing after 23 years as Supervisor of Nurses at Memorial Hospital (AT& SF Hospital) in Albuquerque. She was a member of Harwood Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Dave Ring III officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
