Obituary for CAIN

Doris V. Cain, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Monday, December 8, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Randall Cain of Albuquerque; son, Jim Atkins of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Suzanne Busch and husband, Bob of Albuquerque and Marsha Ranks and husband, James of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Kristina Dougharty, Matthew Ranks, Randy Atkins, Jeff and Jennifer Atkins; great-grandchildren, Corey Giles and Maggie Atkins; sister, Frances Hugunin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Atkins; by her parents Albert and Madge Patton; and sister, Ruby Hoehne. Mrs. Cain was born September 2, 1921 in Hugo, OK and was raised in Altus, OK, where she completed Jr. College. Doris was a voracious reader who read anything she could get her hands on. She taught herself to read at the age of four. Doris and Vern were married at Ft. Still, OK right before being stationed in Japan in 1956 and 1957 where they honeymooned and started their family life with Doris' children, Jim and Jane. They returned to the US and settled in Albuquerque in 1960. Doris worked for the Federal Government and retired from the BIA in 1979. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping in touch with old and new friends and family. We will all be missing her for a long time. Services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2003, 1:00 p.m., New Life Presbyterian Church, 5540 Eubank Blvd. NE, with Rev. Ed Katzenberger officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
