Hubert I. Smith, 93, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2003. He was born February 18, 1910 to Homer and Stella Smith, in Taiban, New Mexico. Hubert worked for G.I. Martin Construction, building roads. After retiring from roadwork, he worked at the NM State Fair Race Track. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elizabeth Lee; 6 sisters; three brothers; and daughter, Janice. Hubert is survived by his loving wife, Castella "Cassie" Talbot Smith; two sons, Herbert Smith and wife Charlene, Everett Smith and wife Michelle; daughter, Doris Nix and husband Howard; step-sons, John Talbot and wife Mary, Loyd Talbot and wife Lynn, Douglas Talbot and wife Sherry, Kenneth Talbot and wife Sherri; step daughter, Patsy Jones and husband Dennis; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church, 5500 2nd St. NW, on Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Treatment and Research Center, 640 Jackson Street St. Paul, MN 55101, or the charity of your choice.
